Our very successful Autumn Oppie coaching sessions came to an end yesterday, rounded off with hot chocolate and marshmallows on the Sandquay as the kids came ashore.

Over the past number of weeks it has been fantastic to see upwards of 30 kids afloat each Sunday morning which, bolstered by some very favourable weather, made these coaching sessions our most successful to date. It was great to hear so much laughter echoing across the harbour on Sunday mornings as the kids participated in coaching programmes aimed at developing their sailing skills and knowledge in a “fun” environment.

All this did not happen by chance with a lot of people working hard behind the scenes ensuring the kids were safe on the water and enjoying the experience. A huge thank you to the MBSC members who turned up each week to assist and also to the parents who were on hand to help with crash boats, oppie launching / retrieving etc. Finally a big thank you to Jil and her team of instructors who were key to the success of the programme by making it a very enjoyable and informative experience for all the young sailors involved.

We look forward to welcoming you all again in the Spring of 2016.

Happy Sailing
