Notice of Race

The event shall consist of a Cruisers and mixed Dinghy race Cruisers Spinnaker in both Echo and IRC, Cruiser Whitesail, Class 1, Class 2 and Optimist Class
2. ORGANISING AUTHORITY
The organising authority is the Monkstown Bay Sailing Club.
3.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2017 – 2020.
3.2 The Sailing Instructions will apply. These may change some rules in the RRS; they will be available at registration.
3.3 In accordance with rule 70.4(a) the right of appeal will be denied.
4. ENTRIES AND LIMITATION
4.1 Entry to racing is free. However competitors must register with the race committee on the day of racing.
5. EVENT FORMAT AND SCHEDULE
5.1 The Race will consist of a single mixed dinghy race within Monkstown Bay. A Cruiser Spinnaker Race for both ECHO and IRC from Grassy to Monkstown Bay Sailing Club finish line. VHF Ch 71. A Cruiser Race Starting At or in the vicinity of buoy no 9 depending on weather conditions and finishing at Monkstown Bay Sailing Club finish line. VHF Ch 69. The race committee may use pre-existing laid marks or inflatable orange buoys depending on wind conditions and direction.
5.2Registration will take place on the Sand Quay for many fed Dinghy only from 1230 on the 7th of July.
5.3There will be a briefing on the morning of the race day for mixed Dinghy on the Sand Quay at 1300
5.4The first warning signal will be at 13:55 for Class 1.
Followed by a rolling start for Class 2 14:00
Followed by another rolling start for the Optimist class at 14:05
The FG for all Cruiser Races will be at 14:00
6. BUOYANCY AND CLOTHING
Personal buoyancy shall be worn by all competitors at all times when afloat; competitors shall be afloat for a long period of time and should wear either a full length Wetsuit or Dry suit for the duration of the days race.
7. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY, INSURANCE
7.1A skipper is entirely responsible for the boat being sailed, their own safety together with the safety of their crew, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility.
7.2It is for the Skipper to decide whether their vessel & crew are fit to sail in the conditions in which she will find themselves. By launching or going afloat, the crew confirms that they are fit for those conditions and that they are competent to sail and compete in them.
7.3Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the skipper nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the organising authority, host club, the race committee, the race officer, umpires, patrol boats and beach masters.
7.5The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the skipper of her responsibilities.
8.1There will be prizes for 1st, 2ndand 3rd in all classes.

I agree to be bound by the Racing Rules of Sailing and all other rules that govern this event. In particular I have read paragraph 7 of the notice of race and confirm that I agree to its provisions and that my team will conform to its requirements throughout the event.
NOTESAll helms will be required to sign a copy of this declaration at registration. An additional disclaimer may be required at registration from a parent or guardian of any competitor that is under 18 years of age. This is available in advance on request.
